KAABOO Del Mar

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Are you looking for that experiential, immersive music festival? Well look NO FURTHER.

KAABOO Del Mar provides you with sights, sips, music and so much more than any other music festival. Not only is it in our backyard (Del Mar, CA) but it truly evokes more of an all inclusive festival experience. I mean yes, at the end of the day we all love the live music and the headliners – but, KAABOO Del Mar shows you that an artist is more than a singer. It can be a culinary artist, cocktail artist, comedian, painter, singer, and all the above….That is why for my second EVER music festival, I was so happy to be able to be sponsored by KAABOO Del Mar to attend the festival with my San Diego Sunshine Sister Christina Solis (see adorable photo below)

We also stayed hydrated the whole weekend with Blue Moon – so HUGE thank you to them for allowing us to be media guests! Now – for a breakdown of each day…

FRIDAY

This was Day 1 so of course you’re the most excited and ready to PAAAAARTAAAAAY. Chris and I explored all around the festival, visiting every Instagrammable pop-up that we could find. Our fave?? The Aperol Spritz pop-up as shown in the photo below…

The swings were SO CUTE – and my whole look for Day 1 came from this adorable boutique up in Carlsbad, CA named Flourish by Blues and Shoes (https://www.yelp.com/biz/flourish-by-blues-and-shoes-carlsbad). The romper was perfect for the hot weather because it was so flowy and allowed for the ocean breeze to still provide circulation so that I wasn’t disgustingly sweaty the entire time. The other experience that we got to be apart of was the culinary experience. We were lucky enough to get to try all the dishes from Madre Oaxacan Restaurant & Mezcaleria – which was chips & guac, Barbacoa Tacos, Agua Fresca, and the Squash Blossom Quesadilla. THE FOOD WAS FIREEEEEE Y’ALL. Apart from all the IG pop-ups and yummy food, we saw Tori Kelly and Maren Morris – who absolutely CRUSHED IT. They were hands down the two biggest highlights from my Day 1 KAABOO Del Mar experience.

SATURDAY

Day 2 was the day to start exploring all the artwork! For Chris and I we really just appreciate all things unique so to see so many talented artists in one area perfecting and showing their craft was pretty dope. I absolutely LOVE Gloria Muriel’s work – she has some of the most gorgeous paintings I’ve ever laid eyes on! For artists I will say that honestly, OneRepublic and Black Eyed Peas stole the show for me. We also saw LANCE FREAKING BASS at the BEP show – so my inner *NSYNC fan girl came out HARD when we saw him…For the Day 2 outfit, it was fully thrifted with Salvation Army from the Point Loma store! (https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/)

So all in all, highlights from Day 2 included the artwork, seeing Lance Bass and watching OneRepubilc and BEP. Chris and I also were able to explore the BASK pool area on Day 2 so I was able to rock my Indigo Swimsuit – I love this brand because it’s 100% sustainable swimwear that supports the ocean and sea life conservation! I rocked the DEL MAR suit IN DEL MAR…TOTALLY UNINTENTIONAL *wink, wink*

SUNDAY

For our third and final day of the festival, I must say we were still rocking and rolling with energy! Sunday had my FAVORITE ARTISTS ALL JAM PACKED TOGETHER – so, I was super excited to see some of them live! We also wrapped up the rest of the artwork when we first got there since we weren’t able to get through all of it on Saturday. We waited for about an hour to be front row for The Revivalists, who I got to see a few years back at Austin City Limits in Austin, TX and they were SO GOOD. Honestly, when I saw them two years ago I didn’t even know who they were, now I’m willing to wait over an hour to see them because they really are just THAT GOOD LIVE.

Then we saw Colbie Caillat who has been one of my favorite singers FOR YEARS. She’s so gorgeous, and sweet, so seeing her perform live was definitely one of my biggest highlights from the weekend. To wrap up Sunday, we finished with MUMFORD & SONS, WHO BLEW IT OUT OF THE PARK FOR ME. They were the group that I was hands down the most excited to see and they did NOT disappoint. I got to hop around and dance (even though my feet and knees were KILLING ME) and just live in the moment and be PRESENT. That was one of my favorite things about this festival…YES, you want to take fun photos and make things Instagrammable, but this isn’t Coachella or Stagecoach. No one cares about what you're wearing and if you're attending the trendiest parties...At KAABOO, you're fully immersed in music, art, humor and pure TALENT.

KAABOO is SO MUCH MORE. I can tell you without a doubt that I will be there next year – even with a location change! For Day 3 I rocked another local outfit from Clothe + Arrow, which is actually located in Shop Flower Hill Promenade, which is also in Del Mar! It was definitely the outfit that I got the MOST compliments on as I walked around the festival.

KAABOO was truly unlike any other festival experience and I am so freaking excited to see who the lineup will be for next year!

XOXO,

Kara
